Insufficient Memory

Hi, if someone could help me it would be much appreciated. I am not a techy person so don't understand tech language and would appreciate someone telling me what i need to do simply!

I have an MPC 1000. I am wanting to load samples on to all 4x pad banks (A, B, C & D)within 1 project. I have loaded 16xsamples on to the 16xpads in Pad bank A, i then go to load my second lot of samples in to Pad bank B but i get the message 'insufficient memory' (which is usually when the machine needs to be switched off & on again to load any more in)..... SO.... I saved to 'SAVE ENTIRE MEMORY' & named it 'RATM set 1.' (this is saving on to my memory card.)

I then turned the machine off and back on again. Loaded up 'RATM set 1' went to Pad bank B and started loading up new lot of samples. Again it said 'Insufficient memory' so it seems to take up the memory by loading up the 'RATM set 1' so much so that i can't put any more samples in. Every time i load up the RATM set it won't let me add any more due to the memory... The memory card is not full. I have a 2GB memory card and it has loads of space on it.

The samples i am loading are not large at all. They are very small WAV files of no longer than 2 seconds.

From reading forums it looks like i may need to upgrade my internal memory?
I don't understand how i go about doing this? And would this solve the problem?

If anyone could let me know ASAP that would be amazing as i have a pretty big gig next week where i am relying on my MPC!

Yes, if you haven't got it already (mpc doesn't say 128mb when booting up) extra ram will solve your problems. In the mean time, convert your samples to mono & trim them well.

Yeah, it says 16MB INSTALLED when I turn on the MPC so i'm guessing that's the memory I have filled?
How do i go about getting extra RAM? Can i download it from the internet or do i need to buy a physical disk? Thanks for your help!

Anyway, I'd recommend buying an unofficial RAM upgrade. You can get the same amount of RAM for a lot cheaper.

Basically (at least for the MPC1000, though I believe it's the same for the 500) you use a standard laptop RAM card. The only caveat is the MPC only reads one side of the circuit board, so you have to get a 256MB card to get the full 128mb of sample space. Specifics specs on what kind of RAM to use can be found in the thread I linked to.

if you're in the USA, you can buy the RAM on eBay for just over $10.
