To Paul, who sent me a message from my site re the Elextrix Filter Factory: your email address was missing, I couldn't reply to you directly, but I hope you see this anyway:
These questions about sending state from the Electrix filter are generally specific to the Elektrix, and the MPC1000 won’t inherently know how to handle it - there is no "universal" initiate dump command that will make any device spill its guts.
If there is a way for the MPC1000 to request the dump data from the Electrix, it will mean you manually crafting the appropriate SysEx message as an event in a Sequence, then sending it out while hitting Record. It's probably easier to initiate the dump manually from the front panel: if you do, you hit record just before sending, sure the sequence is long enough and Loop is off. (I see another thread on this topic today also.)
I use a Korg DL8000 digital delay on the extra outs, but I try to keep it as simple as possible, and so far it boils down to doing the manually inserting the following at the beginning of a song using Step Edit on a dedicated track:
- send the Program Change
- send the CCs to set the CCs I will be using to the initial state.
I should extend this procedure to include the SysEx of the patch(s) I will use in a particular track, especially for live work. If the DL8000 loses its data, I can recreate the patches, but not quickly, so this is a good idea.
