Question About Programs

I swear i figured out how to do this but i cant remember. You know how when you chop a sample into pieces and hit edit, convert, sliced samples, create new program: YES. And when you use the new program with your chops and play on the pads, when you hit one pad after another, the new pad you play cuts off the previous one, so no layering is allowed with the pads.

I just cant remember how to do that without going through the trim menu and making a new program through the sliced samples feature. is there a way i can turn this on with all of my programs and not just the ones that came out of sliced samples?

when you use the CHOP function to automatically create the program for you, it defaults the program to MONO mode... switch the program to POLY.

these are MPC basics... polish up on that manual.

sorry, but you obviously don't know. just switch the program parameters to POLY and get on with it...

sorry, but you obviously don't know. just switch the program parameters to POLY and get on with it...

Umm nope. In mono mode you can still trigger two separate pads at once. But striking the same pad over over cuts off the previous trigger. So if I hit pad A1 and it starts playing a loop, then I hit pad A2, it will not cut off the A1 trigger, both pads with play thier samples on top of one another. How do I make it so their is only one trigger that is allowed and any new pad triggers will cut off the previous.

I agree with crossings. You do not really understand your poly/mono settings. Hopefully this will help.

You can set mono/poly in different levels. You can set the entire program to mono/poly or you can set individual pads to mono/poly. You can also use the program mode to set specific pads to cut each other off using the "Mute Group" option.


if the WHOLE program is set to MONO all the sounds/pads will cut each other off

If the WHOLE program is set to POLY then all the sounds/pads will overlap

If the INDIVIDUAL PAD is set to MONO the pad will cut itself off when triggered twice

If the INDIVIDUAL PAD is set to POLY the sound will overlap when triggered twice

Look in the top right of the PARAMS screen in program mode to set an entire program to MONO.

Also read up on your mute groups. It is ridiculously simple and will allow you to tell the MPC exactly how you want any particular pads to interact with one another. But first you need to figure out your poly/mono settings.
