multi-channel MIDI

developing a live set using Ableton as the master sequencer, and MPC1000 as a slave instrument.

was wondering if it is possible for the multi-channel midi signal (coming from ableton) trigger separate tracks on the MPC1000.

for example have:

MIDI channel 1: trigger track 1
MIDI channel 2: trigger track 2

i would assume each track would have a dialogue where you could pick their MIDI input... or perhaps the developers didn't implement that feature.

I use the MPC for live shows - there is LOADS of cool stuff you can do with the JJOS for live playing that you can't do with the regular OS. Head over to the JJOS forum , where theres lots of info.

i have jj0S 2XL 1.35 installed. i basically scrapped the idea of using the mpc as a slave, looked for answers everywhere about it and seems that handling incoming multitrack midi data is impossible.

was also hoping i'd be able to assign Q link faders to the FX Reverb Mix but it doesnt seem that that is available either

would just be a few lines of code to fix alot of functionality road blocks this machine has

you need JJOS2XL 3.xx : http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/

If you have a XL password installed then you dont have to pay any extra, just download and update.


I use the MPC in multi-timbral mode all the time . Channels 1-16 are routed to tracks 1-16. Here's the link to JJ's info

You can assign the Qlink to effect parameters too - but you'll need to route it to Ableton first as a MIDI CC message - or you can plug the midi out to the midi in if you want to do it standalone.

you can trigger with js0s im pretty sure.

i record multiple instances of my korg TR rack with my mpc, and can record upto 16 channels of data with the mpc.

Cant see why you couldnt do the same with ableton?
