How do I turn off sample layering on my Mpc1000

Hello, I just bought a mpc1000 and am very new to the world of hardware based production. How do I turn off the layering when I load a sample to a pad and press it the second time it plays over the original, I would like it to stop the first and start again. Thank you. I found a similar article on here for the same problem but it was for a different mpc and I could not apply to answer to mine.

change it from POLY to MONO.

How do I do that? Thank you.
