lcd screen faded out after reset to defaults

Have got mpc 1000 and did a reset to factory defaults and the lcd screen is hardly readable now. Says in manual to hold shift key and use data wheel to adjust contrast but this does nothing. OS jj 4.99.Can anyone help??????. and is it possible to go back to an older OS ??

with JJOS you don't use the shift key...

hold down the STOP button and then turn the data wheel... should do the trick.

that's correct... JJOS is not the same as the AKAI OS... it is a lot better and more functional... there's an entire section of this forum dedicated strictly to the different versions of the JJOS... it's actually a good thing your MPC came with it already installed... don't downgrade to the AKAI OS.
