Hello.
I just bought a brand new MPC1000 and I've noticed something that seems strange. After I sample a record and put it on a pad it plays noticably louder in the trim screen than it does in the main screen. I searched the boards but saw nothing. Anyone have any idea whats going on? As far as I know I've done nothing to boost the volume etc.. Probably just a quirk with the machine but its enough to annoy the hell out of a perfectionist.
Thanks in advance.

Try adjusting the "Master Volume" (some where in "Options" I think.

Since the MPC can play 32 samples at one time, it must give itself headroom (just like a real mixer) to add 32 samples together without overdriving the output. That's what the Master Volume" is all about.

In trim edit, I don't think the MPC is running through the internal mixer, so it might seem louder (the MPC is not reserving headroom, since it's only playing that 1 sample, not potentially 32)...

just my 2 cents.

the sample's volume in the program menu is gonna be set to 70 unless you've changed it. if your master volume, mixer volume for that pad, and the sample volume in the pgm screen are all max'd out, you sample should be the original volume.

what jksuperstar said about headroom is correct. if youve got a lot of samples playing at once, you probably want to turn them down each by the same amount so you dont clip the mpc's outputs. that's why the pgm screen has each pad hanging at 70 as default.

Thanks for the input.
Yes I have seen that all default to 70 volume.
I have just been cranking them all up to 100.
Maybe I should stop that.
Thanks,

sup man,

I'm guessin its cause the sample plays at full level in trim mode regardless of if its on or not... try switching on full level and hittin the pad and then go to trim mode.. the level should be the same,

Peace, iNSTiNCT
