Hi everyone, have just spent most of the weekend editing and loading samples onto my MPC, and ran in to a few problems and thought I'd post the results as I was reading lots of posts on here on the same topic.
Basically I am using the 'AUTOLOAD' folder on the root of the CF card to automatically load all my samples and programs. I made loads of programs using the MPCMaid app for my favorite drum packs and copied them over to the CF card.
At first everything worked fine, then when I added a few more programs the following day, there would be samples and programs missing after autoload. Weirdly, I could go to my drums folder on the CF card where I kept a back up of the programs and samples and load the program manually and all was fine.
When I plugged the MPC via USB to my computer I thought I'd count how many files were in the AUTOLOAD folder = 21 Programs 1 Save all Seq & Song, 1024 Samples (in .WAV format)
How many samples were missing after Autoload? = 25. So the MPC is seems to be Loading a maximum of 999 samples.
Which samples are missing? The latest ones copied to the CF card so it seems to be doing it in date or modified date order.
I couldn't find any literature about this anywhere. SORRY if someone has already discovered this and posted, I spent about an hour searching and reading various posts on this forum.
So is this an actual limitation of the MPC? It's not a CF card issue as formatted FAT32, each folder can hold over 65,000 files (I think).
I know the MPC can actually load more than 999 samples as they can be loaded manually, it seems to be a limitation of either the amount of same file types that can be read from a given folder, or a limitation specifically to do with the autoload feature.
If anyone knows any more on this I'd be interested to hear, if this sounds wrong and it is either a bug or problem with my MPC would be interested to hear too.
