what is the advantage of using a mixer with MPC???

Im confused on the setup of using a mixer from the outs on the mpc. I know that the benefit of it is so that you can assign the pads to go out into the mixer, and from there alter the EQ and apply effects and what not, but from there, how do you get the new "effected" sound, BACK into the MPC?? Or is it only useful when RECORDING the sound? Any help would be apprectiated.

well the benifits of having a mixer. if you like to improv over your seqences,, the effect never has to be the same. plus it will give you options to fade a sample or samples into a song,, rather than programing a 16 bar measure with velocity changes all the way through it. i dont have a real mixer right,, alls i have is a dj mixer my friend had laying around.. but if you want to you can buck up and invest on a digital mixer and have everything automated and just have you mixes cued up for a sequence or whatnot... its pretty much anything go's though so do some more diggin and find what would be best for you... hope that helped...

I use the mixer to let me pull samples from the main output to the 4 inividual outs. usually my kick drum and snaredrums for sure, but pretty much any sound that I want to eq or compress or run through a distortion pedal...etc. etc.

I also sometimes patch a group output of the mixer to the inputs on the 1k, then whatever keyboard, cd player, mic pre...can be routed to the sampler just by assigning the channel to the group out.

it makes life easier,or more convoluted, depending on how you like to work.

hey jabba i found using a q l;ink and attack on most samples works just like a volume control on small samples also the mixer in the mpc is automatable but you probly know it doesnt work in the middle of a sample.
