Im rocking ableton live 4.0

how is the swing and groove, sound like a mpc.

i have mpc 1000 it hard to freak the beats on 1000 becasue of timing bugs it has but i will never sell it mpc is here to stay. i always been into music, In 1998 while station in frankfurt germany for six years i was expose to dj seems and it was and from there i started making beats i tried everything out there djx,er-1,em-1,es-1,mp7,sp303,mc303,roland sample,first cubase,fruityloops,(wish i got mpc first would save alot of money ) while i germany i got live 1.0 when it came,the best investment in music gear, any way you think of making a beat it will come out that way,but you need a good sound card(i have a mkll828 firewire and the sound is tight) i will post some beats made with live 4.0 soon.

it aint about no f))) mpc, and i hate computers but i thought it might be a good intrument if its easy to use and meditate with but it sounds like there tryng to compete with my baby and im always open to new instruments.i dont really care what instrument. its just that my sonars too complicated for a main thing and sound forge too, and i had a sp303 that was good but you cant get any space between the sounds like mpc.why cant they just make good insruments?i havent seen any limitations with the mpc-timestretch-A$$ fetch! but a different sound and vibe im all eyes.

Just get one then, used 2000xls are real cheap now (bewtween 600 and 700), plus they got time stretch, and a shift setting.

live 4.0 is simple and stream line,i can do just about anybody beat style,from timberland,alchemist,evil dee from blackmoon,even some dre stuff,thats good how live is.

post a beat, i never heard a hip hop song done on ableton. i'd be interested. but isnt just like Acid Pro or something but with effects and live time strtch.

i took this from live forum,one of user said this (howdy. i use Live for lots of hip-hop production. the editing possibilities just can't be beat. Live has replaced all my hardware. no more MPC, no more ASR. you have to adjust from sequencing MIDI data to sequencing actual pieces of audio. once you get used to that it's so much better. you can see the sound, not just little dots. i think you should spend some time with the manual and really get to know the program. it's really like having the MPC i always dreamed of.

as for assigning controllers on the micro to Live, it's very simple. click the MIDI button in Live. click on just about anything on screen. move your knob/hit the pad or key on the micro. that's it.)this was live 3.0 now live 4.0 is out and it has midi, and you and load vst instr. into.

so beatmaker can you help? i was trying to see if the music you can make with it sounds different-mechanical,organic,etc.from an mpc.

Isnt indeed Live just a fancy looper like Acid??!

I hardly doubt programming individual drum samples with a mouse is a nice or even better alternative to the mpc. But I guess if only using loops if your thing....

I think Fruity Loops is much closer to an MPC than Live will ever be..unless i'm missing something...??

I decided I was asking to much for what I spent... $800 plas tax. Now the MPC1k goes back to guitar center and my MPC4000 is on the way. I really enjoy the computer production as well using the MPC, both allow me to make awesome music. I simply ask that all limitations be removed... When I sit down I want my otpions to be ad infinitum. I love this little MPC 1000, undoubtedly one of the best drum machines ever... After my expereinces with the sampling loop editing etc, I cannot believe more than drums was expressly intended.

BUT---

After all the updates have been completed, years from now... MPC1000 will be another one of those Mutha-shut yo'mouthz.. I'm humbly thankful for being able to purchase my MPC4000 after the "new like last week" OS update 1.6. Finally after two years the machine is supposedly DONE.

why using a mouse?? I imagine it must be very cute to use a controller like korgs microkontrol (even with pads) or akais pad control unit, maybe even with a tabletpc.

it's what I'm actually planing, cause since live has midi-features you can do more than just using loops. although I feel much better with hardware (that's also why I got the mpc) I'ld like to benefit from all the awesome plugs you can find... and because I often travel I'ld be interested in having a mobile solution, too.

I really like lives gui and it seems to be very intuitive, too. I just have to find a way to combine it in a reasonable way with my hardware (and to save some money for a tablet pc... )
