you have to go into step edit, and manually insert Control Changes. But, the 1000 will send these out every time the sequence loops! So you have to be careful with it (use 1 sequence to set up your song, then others to actually be the song).

The 1000 (as of yet) does not support program changes from the Main screen, attached to a sequence. It sucks, I know...

Have a search for "Motif" in the archives, there has been a lot on this in the past, e.g. http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?p=103348

I think a Motif has to be set to Song mode before it will respond multitimbrally. If you can't get a single sound on a single channel to work, that's more basic: you need to head back to the manuals to learn a litttle MIDI, find the best way to wire it up and configure it all. (e,g, Soft Thru on the MPC, Local Off on the Motif.)

The MIDI parameter on the MPC's Main screen directs the traffic for each Track. The pads send MIDI to the destination set on the Active (selected) Track on the Main screen.

Changing sounds on the Motif means inserting Program Changes: Control Changes are for changing parameters (filter, mod, etc.) Don't forget to allow time for the Motif to respond - if you send it a Program Change, then immediately send notes at it, some strange sounds may result...
