hello. im new here. just want to be sure if I need to format a brand new CF card (Sandisk Ultra 2GB) for my 500. and how do I know the OS version of my 500. thanks guys. peace. + + +

Page 106 in the manual tells you where to find the version
And, yes, although the card should be already formatted and usable it 's normally best to format it in the MPC before first use.
