Hi all,

I recently upgraded from the 500 to 1000. When I load all my ALL SQS&SON file, as well as the programs with samples. I noticed that I'm low on memory. As when I try to record a sequence now.... I can't, it says insufficient memory. Its weird because I never had the problem on the 500 and I'm even using the same card.

Heres my specs once I load the ALL SQS&SON file and programs (its a 128 card)
wave free = 7.4 mb
Seq. Free = 18kb

The all sqs&son file that I am trying to upload is 1678 kb. So that is how much is being taken up, and I'm left with 18kb.

Is this an internal issue?

I'm just a bit confused as the same card, used to read fine in the MPC500.

AUTOLOAD is turned off, so there shouldn't be any hidden sequences anywhere.

Thanks!

If you have the 128MB RAM expansion and your CF only has 7.4MB free you are loading 120.6MB into the memory. So your walking the razors edge. I don't know maybe use purge samples to delete any sounds that aren't being used in your sequences.

If you use use JJOS2XL you have a few MB's less even I think because he needed the few MB's to keep adding features. If you only have 16MB stock internal RAM there's no way to operate with that much data.

Well my CF Card is 128 and the ram is as it was when it was purchased. Do you think it is a ram issue?

I use JJOS2XL so my MPC tells me on my boot screen how much RAM is installed at each power up (128MB). In my save/load screens it tells me in MB's how much internal I have free. With nothing loaded I have 115.5MB of free internal RAM and 4.6MB of sequence RAM.

So if the Akai OS lists available internal RAM for Wave Free and Seq Free, the Wave Free is the number to look at to see if you have the 128MB expansion or not.

Yeah my first reply has the numbers based on the information you posted. So even if you do have 128MB maxed RAM you can't load all that and still have enough MB's left to do anything.

when you say youre using the same "card" are you referring to cf card or ram chip?

sounds like you need to get the 128 ram chip.. unless im missing something here.. the size of your cf card is unrelated to the internal memory in your mpc

Bro you're still at "might" ? Look up your Free Wave RAM listed in MB before you load anything to know if you have 16MB or 128MB.

If you do need the 128MB buy any stick that matched these specs PC 133 144PIN CL3 SODIMM 256MB

Even for as low as $5. Do not buy one that you cannot confirm "CL3" on. This is a must that the stamped clock latency rating is "CL3".

I have 11.2 mb of wav space. 12 kb of seq space after i load up "all sq&songs". I am assuming it is a memory issue and i should expand.

If that's the same "All Seq & Songs" from your original post and you have 11.2MB left for WAV Free and the size of the "All Seq & Songs" being loaded 1678kbs that is .20MB.

It looks like you have only 16MB internal RAM and the "All Seq & Songs" file you are loading is taking up too much of the available sequence memory. Probably because you have a lot of Sequences and you have limited available internal RAM.

But again the total amount of internal RAM is listed on the save/load screen. It's very easy to find/see. Or just take out a screwdriver and look in the RAM compartment on the bottom of the machine.

Hi all,
I've just got an MPC1000.
I ordered the 128MB upgrade RAM already, but it will take 4 days to arrive :(
In the meantime, I'm starting to learn how to use it.
I have installed JJOS2XL and got a 16Gig CF Card. Everything works well :)
However, I only have 3.5MB wave free [RAM] ! Seq Free 4.6MB.
Auto Load is off. I have used the purge feature. I checked and there is no samples, no sequences, nothing loaded.
Is this normal?
Is there an option to see exactly what's inside the RAM Memory?
I appreciate your help guys!

Nevermind guys.
RAM is here.
Now it's
115MB Wave free
4.6MB Seq free.
Still would like to know if there is a way to have a look at your RAM contents at a given moment :)

I'm still having my problem.

So I only had the standard memory, but have since installed a 128 mb card into my 1000. It says that the

Wave Free = 123.4 mb
Seq Free = 1664 kb

I saved all my sq+songs in a ALL SQ&Songs file in a folder, and have three programs with samples as well.

When I load that ALL SQS&SONS file its 1685 kb which only leaves me with like 11kb of SEQ free.

So when I try to record a new sequence it won't because insufficient memory. Where would all the sequence memory be tied up in?

Shouldn't there be more? Is there a way to free memory?
so frustrating
