Mixer settings

Hello,

I recently got my mpc1000 and everything is fine, but I have some trouble with the different "save" options. I found out that your effects settings are saved with your "all" file, but where are the mixer settings saved? I lose all my efx-send-settings every time.

And, second question: There is this "save entire memory" option, which lead to me losing some nice patterns because they were obviously not part of "entire memory", contrary to what I believed.

What exactly is saved when "save entire memory" is saved, and where?
(I did read the manual, but on these things its not clear.)

Third question: I know the characteristics and use of some effects, like a reverb or flanger, but as I never had one, I never used a compressor.
I know what its for, but I do not know what the parameters mean and how to use it. Any tips or links?

Is this forum actively moderated?

oh-so-banal questions.

Mixer settings belong to the Program (PGM), but the FX are global, so the settings are shared across all Programs, and that means saving them in a "Sequences & Somgs" or in "Entire Memory"

Save Entire Memory really does save everything, we don't know how you lost anything if you did that properly. Just work at it, experiment, etc.

But your Compressor question is really "newbie" and not specific to the MPC1000, so you may find the answer in the Newbie forum if you search and/or ask politely... or try Sound On Sound for such questions, e.g. http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/1997_ar ... ssors.html for a good overview.

Thanks for the info.
I do not know either how I managed to lose anything, but I did, and I ended up with saving "all sequences" and "all programs seperatly", that worked, mixer settings were not saved, though, strange. But I might have messed it up myself accidently.

And I didnt mean to be unpolite,
I just think a forum like this is for sharing knowledge, even if you have some questions coming again and again. If I can answer something myself I consider not too dumb, and I am not too lazy, I will answer, else I just dont care.
But well - forum politics, a whole universe on its own.

Nah, it's not politics, more a desire to keep the signal-to-noise ratio as high as possible by asking the right question(s) in the right forum. I post in the Newbie forum too, and do try to be nicer there... no worries.
