has anyones machine got timing problems like mine?

i had noticed that sometimes simple patterns like a straight 16th note high hat line would not sound the same everytime. so i recorded the same beat into pro tools 5 times and compared the waves and i was right, the waves i recorded looked noticably different each time, just like i was hearing it. has anyone else thought their machine plays the same loop differently sometimes? if anyone has pro tools and wants to run the same test i did could they send me a private message and i will tell them how i did it,

no clock is ever the same, even if you record pro-tools 5 times it will do the same or anyother machine for that matter...whats critical is solid timing when multiple objects are played together(samples,etc), and if that isnt percieved to be solid than yes thats a problem, cause then you get loose grooves similar to what DAW do, it has to seem as if its a canned audio loop, i too am worried over this before investing into one, i sure hope im wrong.

I record loops into Pro Tools LE, digi 001, with no problems. What system are you using, what kind of computer, and what kind of clocking source?

I record everything through an Apogee Rosetta A/D converter, so the timing is tight. I have looked at the waveforms and I find no discrepency.

sorry if i sounded a bit criptic, but what i meant to say is that all machines at their output will drift everytime in a global way, whats important is that the stuff thats going on inside the machine in relationship to its internal sounds-loops-sequences remains tight together.

Midnightflyer, do you find if you sample thru the Apogee into the mpc that sound is better ,hotter, more solid in general? or does the mpc sample fine on its own?

i am running pro tools mix plus on a g4, but the problem i am talking about is with the clock in the MPC1000. i could do the same test i described above using the mpc2000 i used to own and it would spit out sample acurate waveforms every time, but the 1000 is showing discrepancies of up to 700 samples between different takes. i want the thing to be acurate enough that i dont have to lug a master clocking source around with me, i bought it for its portability,...what are you using as a clock source? have i just got a dud?
