Possibly picking up a 1000 today

Before I bought my mpc2500 I did quite
A bit a research to see what most of the
Common issues were, anyways I have an
Opportunity to grab a 1000 and I haven't
Had a chance to research the problems
With the 1000 , I will be checking this thing
Out and was wondering what I should
Specifically check , on the 2500 it has
Possible dead pads and encoder issues
So that was the first things I inspected
First , so my question is ., what specifically
Should I test on this 1000, of course I will
Check the encoder and pads but anything
Else I should check?
This is a blue version , I hear the black ones
Are better??

I decided I'm just gonna grab it, I feel
That most issues are fixable and seems
Like fair price $395 most on Craig's list
Around here are $500 and above.
So I kinda want to jump on it.
