Hey there,

I have a MPC 1000 and just bought a Midi -USB Cable. I plugged the Midi In into the Midi out of the MPC and the Midi out into the Midi in. I set the Midi sync in the MPC and when I hit a pad I see a reaction in ableton. The harder I press the higher the "sound wave" gets. So I guess ableton knows there is a Midi device. Only problem: I don't hear any sound. I am so depressed right now haha

Can anyone help me? I tried the search function and youtube and google, but nobody really explains the ableton and mpc settings.

You mention MIDI but what about the audio? What audio are you expecting here - the drum samples in your MPC, a VSTi in Ableton? Have you configured the audio interface in Live?

BTW, I wrote an entire book about all the cool things you can do with the MPC and Live - including using Live as a sound module, launching clips from the MPC, sync, audio tracking etc etc.

Hey again,

okay I just have a MIDI connection and no audio connection, that sucks :(

So right now I have the following situation:

first of all i should buy an audiointerface like this http://www.thomann.de/de/focusrite_scarlett_2i4.htm then I make a connection from the stereo out of the mpc 1000 to the audio in of the interface. i connect the interface via usb to my pc then to transfer the beat track by track to ableton. to hear sound I make a connection from the stereo out of the interface to my speakers.

Is this right? And how can I hear sound from my pc from like iTunes or Youtube on my speakers then? Is the sound transferred through the usb cable to the interface and then to my speakers?

i am very thankful for tevery hint i get!

hi,

first of all, i would buy the audio interface and try it. without the interface its just speculation and theory of a non-existant topic. i dont know the interface. so maybe the thing is a self-explanatory.

by the way, to confuse you :-D there is a solution called sound flower.
