Hanging notes with "thick fat pads"

Hey guys,

I've upgraded my MPC1000 with the thick fat pads, which is great. But I have a problem with one of the PAD1. Sometimes the note keeps hanging when I play the pad, so I have to pull up the pad to stop the note.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Any ideas for me?

Maybe your ones are malformed too.

Look at the corner of that pad compared to the other 3 corners.

On mine, it was clearly defective. I contacted mpcstuff, (with pics), and they sent me a new set, and it all seems good.

Had this very problem with "thick pad number one"
When the note was hanging I simply squeezed and pulled the pad up.
So far it has never happened again.

There are a few things that can cause this. Any malformed pads could cause issues, no matter the reason.

Here are possible causes:

1. Your casing is bent a little bit in the area where the effected pad is. I have seen this a ton of times. The casing variance wont effect the normal pads because they are not made to the tight sensor tolerance that the thick pads or corx are utilizing.

2. The pads are not on straight or the nipples have come loose before re-installing the casing. Sometimes it will pinch or move. (this is an issue that is solved by opening the case and re-situating or sometimes pulling up on the pad, as pixie42 stated)

3. (Not applicable to MPC1000 , 500 and the MPKs since they are built in) The corx are not situated properly or the wrong corx are being used on the wrong unit.

4. In VERY rare instances (only seen a couple times on MPC1000, never on any other unit) the pads somehow slipped through our quality standards and were deformed and we didnt notice when packaging. In all instances like this the pads will be replaced free of charge. If that is your issue please contact us. Its VERY rare this is the case, so the chances are one of the above is more likely to blame.

"tweaking the nipple" was something I had to go back in and do when I installed mine. It was the "nipple" near Pad1 like the OP. Been perfect since then.
