waiting for sample to stop till i can play again

im new to mpc1000. when i load a sample say a drumloop for example to a pad i have to wait till sample stops playing till i can hit pad again, otherwise the sample starts playing on top off the loop i played at first. i want it so that when i hit the pad the sample starts over again and cuts the playback of the sample off from the first time i hit pad. its really hard to explain what i mean but i think yous will get the drift. lol. thanks in advance for response. plz help.

Hey Bop,

Sounds like you are wanting "monophonic" playback on at least that one sample. This is very easy to set up (and you can do it on a pad-to-pad OR program-to-program basis)!

MODE > PROGRAM > (depending on your OS, this may be a little different)
-Select desired sample
- PARAMS > VOICE OVERLAP > MONO

In the top right of the screen you'll see "PLAY MONO/POLY", this is the mono/poly control for the whole program selected by the way.

you my man are wot we call in london a **** ledgend. thank you so much. i was losing faith. im using the akai os. i did install jjos but couldnt load samples to pads???

Hmmm... that is strange. Personally, I'm using the free OS right now and the sample loading is the exact same as it is on the Akai OS I believe.

Have you tried bringing up the sample-to-pad window when you're loading samples? Allows you to create programs while you're loading instead of having to go to the MODE>PROGRAM window and scrolling through all the samples in memory, maybe that would work for you.

Just so ya know, you usually load samples from CF card to the RAM memory and THEN you assign those samples to what ever pad you want through the PROGRAM window. Here, you also have complete control over how each sample behaves (like mono/poly playback, filters, mute groups, and envelope depending on OS).

At first it may seem like all the menus are disconnected from each other but, I promise, once you have a bit more time with it... everything will click and you'll be a master of the MODE+PAD workflow.
