3 synths / mpc1000

hi all!

quick question maybe you can help out with.

I am trying to run three midi outs to three synths. All on three separate tracks.
(to an Akai Ax60, Juno 106 and Nord)

Lets say, that Juno is hooked up at 1A midi on 1 track
Akai is hooked up at 2B midi on 2 track
Where should I direct midi out and in for the nord? (I would am assuming this will actually require a through somehow....

ideas?

No one has a midi through of them 3?

Well, you could by a midi split box, 50 € for a through 4.

Or maybe, if you set up one synth for just receiving ch 3 e.g. you can hook it after the out of on of them. This should work, like playing that synth on a different channel doesnt prevent data to pass thorugh. and passing data with the dedicated channel data should work....

the simplest way would be the MIDI THRU box method mentioned... MIDI Solutions makes a great one that is MIDI-powered that i use with my mpc1000... look for the QUADRA THRU if you can't route it through your synths somehow.

if you're handy with DIY stuff, you can make a thru box for probably $10 total in components.

You don't need a separate MIDI THRU box.
Connect the MIDI THRU from the AX60 or the Juno 106 to the MIDI IN of the Nord.

I think the Thru should work.

My set up is something like this...

According to MPC1000

Midi: 1A goes to Juno
Midi: 2B goes to Ax 60
Midi: 3(a or b?) goes to Nord?

So the through would go from akai to nord. And I set up Nord as going 3a or 3b?

Yup.

For example:

Juno 106 (mono-timbral) would be set to receive on MIDI channel 1
Nord would be set to receive on any MIDI channel from 2-16

Using MIDI THRU may add a millisecond or two of delay to the next device, ie the Nord.
