So im trying to track out the 1k..when i go to the mixer screen, i am able to assign my pads/ samples to ether 1/2 or 3/4...why cant I assign them to 1, 2, 3, 4 individually like the 2500? Does this mean i have to do everything in stereo? Like, if i wanna track a beat out, can i have it so i have the kick on1, snare on 2, hat on 3, bass on 4, and the sample coming out of the stereo outs? someone said if i wanna do this i have to do somthing with panning the tracks but they didnt elaborate really..any help please!

peace yall

...because a stereo sample is stereo...means left AND right!

if you wanna change something about this, you must use mono samples.....you can convert your stereo samples into mono in the sample edit page.....
once they're mono you can route them the way you want....

OH WORD??????...lol chill on that condescending shit son..i know there difference between stereo/mono. I sample everything in mono to begin with because I don't have the upgraded memory.

Stereo samples will only give the option of 1/2, 3/4,
Mono samples will give any channel options.

He wasn't being condescending in any way. He assumed you didn't know because of your post. If you only sample mono how did you end up having only stereo options? Maybe import stereo samples and didn't know, see what I'm saying. Not condescending, you just didn't know. Maybe mistakenly sampled stereo one day and didn't know it?!

Aaaannnyywaayyy, all good now. No mo problems with stereo samples right?

Don't think that is correct.

From page 79 of the MPC1000 manual...
Tips : The output setting is made in stereo pairs. If you wish to
output eight monaural signals separately from the eight assignable
mix outs, use the pan settings in the L/PAN page. For example, to
use the assignable mix out 1/2 as two mono outs, in the L/OUT
page, set the output to 1/2 and set the pan setting of the pad you
wish to output from the out 1 and 2 to L and R respectively.

Is the same in the MPC2500 manual.

I guess that the standard Akai 1000 and 2500 OS uses stereo pairs for individual outs.

Yeah exactly.

As quoted from the AKAI OS manual you have to choose a "stereo" pair 1/2, 3/4..etc and hard pan in the mixer menu.

for instance sample 1 => 1/2 => L50 => output 1
sample 2 => 1/2 => R50 => output 2

As mentioned previously with JJ OS you can get rid of that time consuming setting.
You can assign directly to 1,2,3,4, L and R outs. With recent versions you have a non destructive mono/stereo setting in program mode by the way.

Something else to have in mind, with the 1k and the 2k5 if you want to track something with MPC internal effects on it you have to use L and R outs.
The main volume knob has an additional influence over L and R outs but separate outs volume is set with the master level in other mode.
