Reset mpc question

Just got my mpc 1000 from eBay and the f1, f6, erase, and window key aren't working properly. As a result I can't restore it to factory settings in the load menu or with a hard reset.
I believe the previous owner turned off the mpc or something disrupted the installation of jjos 3.12 and that's causing the keys to malfunction.
Is there any way to reset the mpc not using the erase key or the load menu?

Forgot to mention, when bootblock v103 message comes up it detects system update 2.13 record for ok play or stop for no.
None of the buttons work then and the mpc freezes up.

Fixed it. Just had to reseat the blue ribbon cable on the cf card reader. Easy fix if anyone ever has the same problem
