Volume knob noise

Hey guys.
I recently bought a second hand MPC 1000 running with JJOS. I haven't gotten so much time to play around with it yet but i have watched several tutorials and purchased and read the MPC-Tutor pdf.

Over to the problem . It is when i try to run sound out of the MPC and i get this weird sound. It has nothing to do with the receiver because when i play music from e.g my PC it plays just fine.

You gotta tell us exactly how it's connected. Sounds like it's clipping or something; I bet the MPC outputs a hotter signal than your computer, and maybe a hotter signal than the particular input on your receiver is expecting. But we can't know that, without knowing about how everything's hooked up.

Is this what you mean? My MPC stereo out is connected to the Phono-in on my receiver.
The funny thing is, when i play back my recorded sample and turn up the volume knob on the mpc from 0 to say around 10 a clock the increase in volume doesn't have anything to say on the quality, but when i then play the sample again on the volume i left it in it starts distorted.

Try a different input other than the phono-in. Those often have preamp/EQ circuitry, which could behave badly with non-turntable inputs.

Phono input is never for anything other than a record deck. It's far too sensitive.
Do as SciGuy say's and use a different input (CD or Aux ) and it should work fine.

nah, I've seen much worse.
