why does my sample cut off when my beat starts over?

Alright last night I was working on a track and recording a synth line that I played on my Ms2000 that lasts for 8 bars. I sampled it into the MPC and then I triggered it right before the end of my 8 bar beat that I was creating. I triggered it just a little past the 4th beat of the 8th bar just before the beat would loop. It should have looped and continued playing the sample that I just triggered, but instead it cut off the sample as soon as the beat looped back to the 1st bar. Anyone have any ideas what it might be? Thanks in advance.

It might have to do with truncating the note at the loop end. See page 19 of the manual for "Handling the duration (the length of a note) at the loop boundary"

I checked the manual and tried to change it to all 3 different settings and none of them worked. I would have assumed that the setting to loop "as it was played" would have been what I was looking for, but it still cut off my sample once the beat looped at the end of 8 bars????

Try setting the sample trigger with NOTE ON instead of ONE SHOT, then set the duration the full length of the loop.

Had a similar problem with note on, I wanted a string sound that sustains over a loop. When recording a 2 bar loop, it was fine, but in a 4 bar loop it also became cut off somewhere in the middle (string sample was looped and everything)...

I worked that out the other day, decreasing the duration amount until it fitted perfectly inside the loop length. Then it triggered every time.

One thing i couldn't work out were the numbers, what do they relate to??
They don't seem to be anything musical, so it's a matter of trial and error until it fits.
If i knew what they meant i could just dial in the amount, like bars and beats for example.
Anyone know what they mean??

The MPC's sequencer resolution is 96 parts per quarter note (96 ppq). So every quarter note = 96ppq.

Ah, the numbers mean pulses per quarter note.

Then at the top of the list towards the right there will be a "D" (duration).
