Mapping 16 pads to 16 logic tracks and using logic fx on dif

What I want to do:

-Map a bank of 16 mpc pads to 16 corresponding logic tracks

-apply logic effects to those tracks (like a compressor on one, a tape delay on another)

-be able to achieve side chain compression in this way using logic's compressor and side chaining capabilities

What I don't want to do:

-I am not interested in recording. I just want to play live.

-I don't need my mpc and logic synced so that I can hit play on either and the other will play too, that's not what I need.

What I am using:

-MPC 1000 running the most recent akai OS, not JJOS

-Logic Pro 8

-M-Audio MIDI interface


Thanks to anyone who can help me. I just want to be able to achieve side chain compression on my mpc, so that when I hit the kick and snare pads, the other samples on other pads duck down. Can't find any videos or threads that teach this.

Not sure if you have thought this through, or if I understand exactly what you are trying to achieve.

The MPC1000 only has 6 audio outputs.

How are you going to send audio from 16 MPC pads, to 16 Logic tracks, through only 6 audio outputs?

Or are you talking about sending MIDI into the 16 Logic tracks, and generating sounds from 16 instrument tracks in Logic?

Yes I want to do it through MIDI.

Well, don't think that you can send 16 different MIDI channels from a single bank of 16 MPC1000 pads, as the MIDI channel assignment relates to the selected MPC1000 track, not to individual pads.

If you really want 16 MPC1000 pads to send a MIDI note to 16 Logic instrument tracks, you would probably need to re-route the MIDI within the Logic Environment, so that it splits out the MIDI note on/off messages to each separate Logic track, based on the MIDI note number of each pad.

Someone else might have an easier/better solution.

Ok Maybe I can simplify this a bit. I really only want to get side chain compression on the mpc. But the mpc 1000 doesnt have that. So then I got the idea of trying to use logics compressor in conjuction with the mpc.

So I don't really care whether its midi or audio or all sixteen pads or just a few. I just want to have a few samples on my mpc that will duck down when I hit the drum hits on mpc. I want it live too. That's the key part

It seems simple but I'm starting to think that I will never be able to have live side chain compression on any of my mpc productions.
