attack being altered by MPC1000

i import a kick drum into my audio editor. it sounds perfect. i take the same kick drum, load it onto MPC via USB. now there is a softer attack. it is not latency. the MPC is adding a little millisecond fade-in. i turned off every parameter that might do this, no envelope, no effects, no filters. velocity is at full level. i tryed changing the Pad velocity curve(A,B,C,D), same thing. anyone else notice this?

forgot to mention, this problem is has nothing to do with the internal sequencer because i tryed triggering it via MIDI to test it and the same problem.

A comp in the signal path could be to blame,but if its all bypassed...I would recamend adding some blank time to the beginning of your sample in the editor and then open it in the mpc... if you still hear the distortion maybe your monitors have some protection limiting happening or your clipping somewhere.
(by adding the blank space you can rule out any slow envelopes)

I haven't experienced this problem with the mpc, but everyonce in a while I forget to zero out the master compressor on my mixer and it mess with my head.

Just a note that pad velocity curves are for changing how the MPC interprets the velocity you hit the pads. That is, what velocity number it comes up with corresponding to how hard you hit the pad. Unless you have the Vel-> parameters (filter / level) set, the curves shouldn't affect your sound. Using Full Level mode will also remove any effect of the velocity curves.
