MPC getting hot...

I just made a case for my MPC, using an alum. suitcase and some sound foam... here's my question: I notice when Im using the 1k for a while it heats up, like any hardware...is it bad for me to operate the 1k while its tucked tightly in its case? or will i be blocking a vent or keeping the heat from being released?

i wouldn't operate it anywhere except in a ventilated area

using it for a long period of time in a close fitted case would be unwise

I agree. My MPC also heats up and I become frightened for it. Using it in a case would only make things worse. I reccomend just using the case when transporting it.

word up... damn. that really sucks donkey balls, seeing as how i spent time positioning everything right for thje cables and everything to work when its in the case. shit.

or you can adapt a fan on the bottom of the suitcase or somethin

do the foam of case like in turntable cases.. only put foam to the corners and leave bottom and sides clear.. like this your mpc gets enough nicely cooling air

semisensei: How much did you get that case for? Built it yourself? i'm looking at doing that as well

Mine gets hotter than shit, even without a case. I've come to the conclusion that I need to work fast when my MPC is on, cause I feel like it gets so hot that I need to turn it off and let it cool down after about 3 or 4 hours of work.

i was just at staples earlier today...and seen a great solution to this idea, maybe not for in the case...but...if you've heard of or seen them lil fan pads for laptops to sit on...i thought it would be a bright idea to put underneath a mpc1k...perfect...and maybe even mount on into a custom sized case...where it sits below the mpc1k inside the case...and just plug it in where you can along with the mpc1k...i personally think its a brilliant idea...and its not that much either, the price i seen was around $35-$45...

only thing...is it's powered by USB...so im not sure if you could have this running off the mpc1k while working with in it to power this device..."might be worth it to test that out?"...im sure it would work tho...who knows really tho...none the less it might give insight into other idea's to help keep the mpc1k stay cool as possible...
