What's up y'all? I'm new to the forum and the MPC game. Just picked up a used 1000.

It's in pretty shotty condition, but hey, it works! Nothing that can't be fixed. This week I'll be buying all the replacement parts, harddrive + adapter, JJOS2XL. Thankfully I already have the maxed out 128mb of RAM so that's something I can check off my list.

The only thing I really can't figure out what to do about is finding a black faceplate. mpcstuff seems to be sold out and I can't find them anywhere else. Do you guys know where I could find one? Or maybe someone on here even has an extra lying around?

I've got the blue/red 1000 and I wanna have pretty much everything black. Just give it a whole new look.

So does anyone think they can help me out? Also, any tips for an MPC beginner?

Just keep checking MPCstuff and they'll get some back in.

Another option to consider is a styleflip skin over your blue one.
Costs about as much as a new black faceplate but the skies the limit.

You can upload images to their website and put whatever you want on there.

I'd go with the skin.

Eh not so sure I really care for how the skins look. Plus like I said, I just want it all black. Even though I'm sure you could get a black skin. I think I'm gonna call them up tomorrow and see maybe if they could order me one personally? Or even just see if they're gonna be getting in a new shipment of them any time soon.

Yeah give em a call.
I wonder where they get them.

I dont think Akai wouldn't make them anymore.
And I'm assuming it would take a few steps of somewhat detailed manufacturing for someone else to make an aftermarket one.

I guess I always figured they came off of parted out machines,
but I doubt they've got a ton of those.
Especially with clean cases.

Maybe they're rarer then I thought.
Good luck.

So I called them and you were right, Akai recently stopped manufacturing them. But MPC parts is in the process of making their own, which will be identical to the originals. They should be ready in 2-4 months and the confirmed colors are black, white, silver, and red. So that's pretty good news!

Thats awesome news!
I actually need a new one myself.

I got a black new pads that was used but in practically brand new shape from some nitwit in seattle on ebay, then this idiot shipped it to me in the original box WITHOUT ANY PACKING MATERIAL!
IE: banging around inside the box all the way here.
So the case that was new in the pictures was chipped and warped and the side panels broken off when I got it (I really dont understand or want to know whats going on in washington state).

And yay for the color options!
If I gots to pony up for a whole new case I dont just want the same factory case everybody else gots.

I'm thinking the White or the Silver.
Thanks for the heads up dude.

Oh wow, that's terrible! Almost similar to the situation with my MPC.

I got it for DUMB cheap on ebay (300 bucks!) and in the pictures, it did look pretty beat up. But when I got it (awful packaging, there was a gaping hole in the box and it was only supported by a little bit of newspaper) it was much worse than I had imagined.

Most of the buttons are off kilt so I need to go inside and straighten them up, bottom Q Link slider is gone, some pads don't respond as well, two buttons I'm actually pretty sure are broken and not just off kilt, the left side panel is gone, the metal back is REALLY rusty, face has various scratches, scuffs, chipped off paint labels. In other words, it's got some miles. Gotta say the strangest thing though is that it still smells like the previous owner's home hahaha.

Then the screen was kind of flickering a bit. But once I purchased and installed JJOS the screen issue fixed itself, which was nice, but I had just bought a new screen for it, which was like 150 bucks or something. But I wasn't too mad about that since the new screen is that really cool black one.

Spent a whopping $700 in new parts for this thing. Not including the $123 for JJOS2XL... But I'm completely satisfied, so I'm not complaining! Definitely gonna post pictures once my parts arrive and I install em all.
