First of all is it possible to sync the 1000 to a computer program via midi? If so what type of midi box do I need to buy? I guess would like to be able to do is hit the pads and have the sound show up in sync with whatever program I am going to use. I am trying to expand my editing capabilities of the tracks I do in the 1000.

Thanks

I agree it's a newbie forum question - got no time to say much else, I'm heading out the door for almost 2 weeks vacation...

You're talking basic MIDI knowledge here, too much to teach you in this forum. There are all kinds of MIDI interfaces out there, even a cheap USB one from Edirol will get you started, or you can get a combined MIDI/Audio interface.
Once you get that set up, then you synchronize the MPC1000 with whatever program you use, but don't get thinking you have to transfer stuff to the computer. If you get the sync right, you can get both machines working aide by side, then bring it all together at mixdown.
