random sound levels mpc 1000

i am a complete noob to sampling and mpcs i just got my first mpc 1000. Right out the gate sorry if this has been already answered i looked on the site and some others and couldnt find an answer to this question. so basically when im recording and i hit some of the pads its sounds loud but when i play back what i recorded its sounds quite but every now and then it will be louder. any advice or suggestions?. pretty sure the pads are upgraded as they are orange and when i tug on them the surrounding move a bit. i have not opened it up yet just got it yesterday. thanks in advance and sorry for being a noob.

Not lifting fingers off the pads after each hit and double triggering?

Give yourself some time to try things out and get acquainted with the OS.

Also, find out how to reset the machine, and do that.

hit soft...hit hard....and wow, it makes a difference in loudness.....
as real instruments would do.....
but for now.....turn full level on.....
