patches changing on all my tracks

Hello, when i record a sound/midi from my synth into the mpc on say track 1 and then I want to now record a different sound to track 2..when I change the patch on my synth, it also changes the already recorded sound on track 1. Why is it doing that and how do I fix it? Also, shouldn't matching the track numbers on my synth with the corresponding midi track numbers on the mpc work?

Here are my settings:

type- midi
pgm- off
midi- 1A
"active track receive channel" - ALL
soft thru - off
seq change - off
pad to internal - ON
sync in - 1
sync out - A ( I tried the "off" option as well and that didn't help)

You need to set your keyboard up in Performance Mode, and assign a different Patch to each different MIDI channel.
