MPC1000 triggering multiple samples

Hi,

Reposting this as I had only one response previously:

A few nights ago my 1000 started randomly triggering samples of it's own accord, even when stopped.

Just short bursts of either layered or single samples every several minutes or so, but occasionally it goes properly mental and triggers for ages.

It's not a MIDI issue (unwanted messages from external gear), and I've checked the pad controller/sensor unit, disconnected it, reconnected it, plus the faceplate is correctly installed and not pressing down on anything it shouldn't be.

One thing I have discovered is I can stop the issue if it starts by switching pad banks from A (where my drums are playing from) to bank B.

But when I switch back to bank A it continues to be a chaotic mess of samples kicking off all over the place.

Totally baffled, please can someone shed some light?

Yeah man, just opened the bottom hatch and flipped it up and out, then re-seated it again - issue hasn't happened since - really appreciate the advice!

holy crap i think this was my problem the whole time. glad i tried it again!

So, unfortunately this issue seems to be more complex as it goes on, and worse of all it still remains.

It can't be the RAM, as I've uninstalled the module and it's still glitching.

I've removed the entire pad sensor module, and it still glitches.

Driving me nuts!

Any further suggestions? It occurs in both standard OS and JJOS2XL.

i have one that is doing the same no matter what. i thought it was heat related but its just a bad motherboard so im buying a neglected one and swapping, then parting out the rest. only solution. unless you can find a motherboard somewhere... not easy. $300 used from mpc stuff, you can get a whole unit cheaper than that.

BTW, if you have a MIDI keyboard, hook that up and trigger some samples with the keyboard - do you still have the same problems?

So in the time you took to reply, I think I may have at least partly solved this issue - I think it is a conflict with OS's.

I re-installed the original Akai OS, and the problem went away. Then I installed the free JJOS 316, and then JJOS2XL.

However, although it seemed fixed for a few minutes, the pad flicking/glitching came back temporarily. It appears to be stable now, but I still don't fully trust it.

Try it yourself - you may need to do a factory reset in original Akai OS mode to clear the ROM.

nah its fully random. it only happens once in a while for me with constant use. not reliable at all for shows so out it goes. not interested in anything but replacement now. good luck tho

Scratch that - now I'm pretty sure it's a fault with my MODE button - I wiggled it back and forth several times and it's been stable for last hour. Switched on and off a few times and no glitching. Seems to have done the the trick, but only time will tell.

Must have a bad connection or something, don't know if that will help your situation but you could try,
