Hi guys i'm Gemo, i'm from the UK.
Finally after 3 years of teasing myself i managed to get hold of an MPC 1000 for a pretty good price; £320 which is fairly cheaper than what I've seen them go for online.
The previous owner gave me a quick demo to prove it was in working condition, he'd also installed JJOS 3.16 which i believe is the "Free" version? (which i still don't fully understand) - if someone could clear that up for me that'd be great
On first inspections there is little cosmetic ware, bar a scratch across the front and what appears to be some unknown paint that's rubbed on there. Regardless i wasn't arsed, for something that's like 8 years old it had been kept in good hands. Still in its original boxing with manual too.
After getting home and powering her up me and my brother started to have a play about with the programs and stuff. I've messed about with a couple MPCs in the past so things were a little familiar.
I didn't have my monitors with me so i made do with my Audio Technica M50Xs and an 1/4 inch adapter.
After a few minutes i noticed that my volume knobstarted to cut out the lows after turning past about 2 o'clock... Im not sure if this is some kinda feature or if it may be a fault, if so- i'm guessing i need to buy a new headphone port, right?
With this i mind though, i also tried the adapter with just a standard stereo AUX cable in the Phones port and plugged that into a friends home hi-fi and there didn't seem to be any low end cuts at all... So i'm kinda stumped on that one. If anyone has any insight i'd be keen to hear your thoughts, thanks.
The second more obvious fault i then came across was that the Left and Down arrow buttons are also very stubborn, they need a quick jabbing push to actually be able to navigate through the screens and such, so again- i'm guessing i need either a new set of buttons or (i'm hoping not) a new PCB?
My last question is kinda a 2-in-1, i've read that there are 4 different model numbers for the MPC1000 series, and that relates to wherever i have the updated pads or not, i have a feeling i have the old ones. Anyway my model number is 'MPC1000'.. if anyone can help me with this it'd be greatly appreciated!
