Mpc 1000 freezes when inserting cf card?

i got a decent deal on an mpc 1000, with the old pads unfortunately, but it has another problem too. It's running JJos free versios 3.06, and it came installed with 128mb ram. It also came with a 2gb cf card, but the mpc wont read it, and it freezes when i insert it. The card reader looks fine, so i guess the problem is the card itself... Any ideas on what to do? I tried to format another CF card in the MPC but i get an error message on the screen saying ''Format invalid''???? after this message the mpc freezes for a minute or so

After some messing around, i connected the MPC to my pc with the second CF card in it. When i click on the folder on my PC, it says that there is something wrong with the parameter. Any input would be appreciated! I also tried formatting it, but that doesn;t work either.
