Ok, so im makin a beat, and i got a great idea i want to record. I pick an unused track, and am ready to go. I hit REC+PLAY, and the tracks program changes to Program 1. Then while its recording i have to scoll down to the track program field and select the program i was using.

How can i avoid the tracks program changing on me in the middle of me working. Its annoying, and it screws up my thought process to!?!?!?!

Is it a bug in the OS? Once i change it back, that track doesn't do that anymore, but the next unused track will do the same thing. Help me...

Um, if I understood you right, you'll have to do this:

Go to the unused track.

Select the program you'll want to use.

Hit record and tap those gray f**kers.

If you select a track that says (unused), it has NO program selected until you start recording something to the track. When you press the rec button the MPC automatically changes the program to the first program currently loaded, because it wouldn't make much sense tapping the pads with no samples assigned to them.

the weird thing is that when i scroll to a new unused track, the program selected is the one that i used on the track before. I always see the right one in there, but when i hit REC, it reverts back to the first program loaded, which for me is a blank PROGRAM 1. I also make sure that in the program screen the correct program is selected, and i see the program change on the unused track as soon as i hit the REC button, even without the PLAY held down. Maybe its a bug in the system because other mpcs (2000/xl) doesn't even allow you to use multiple programs per sequence. I want a way to tell the mpc this program is being used still, and to not change unless i scroll that field. Why would it automatically revert like that?

thats good advice, your right on point, but i did try that, i sent the cursor to the track name field. It still changes. It even changes if i am not playing, and i hit the REC button by itself... whats up with that.
