Midi Crashing

So I've had a few MPCs in the past but it's been awhile. I bought a used 1000. When I plug mpc midi out to my TB-3 midi in, and mpc midi in to the tb-3 midi out, then set the track type to midi on the mpc, set program to off, and set the midi to 1a and try to do anything it goes crazy. it either freezes up totally, or crazy noises start playing panning left and right like just distortion etc. I've updated the os, i tried jj os, and it does the same thing. I'm pretty sure it's gotta be broken but I don't wanna go through the hassle of trying to get refunded if its something i'm doing wrong.

Download jjos2xl (don't have to buy it) put it on and on mode 9 you'll find MIDI monitor for inputs. Than you will see if there is some MIDI loop going on withing your settings on both machines or no.. sounds like MIDI loop
