I searched the forum and found a similar thread, but I wanted to take it a step further than what the user Ill Green mentions, by recording the audio to the DAW. Here's the older thread http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=150384
Would the following scenario work in my case?
1) Record a MIDI pattern first, NOT AUDIO, from a MicroKorg to the MPC 1000.
2) Go into Grid/Note Edit on the MPC 1000 and fix wrong notes, fix early/late notes, add/remove notes, etc.
3) Route the MicroKorg's AUDIO Output into the MPC's Audio Input. (In my case, the synth audio outs would be routed to a channel on my mixer, where an alternate stereo output from the mixer would be feeding the MPC's record input.)
4) Arm the MPC 1000 to record AUDIO and have it "wait on an input signal" and just hit Play Start on the MPC, which would in theory, trigger the MicroKorg and have it play when the MPC does and the MK's AUDIO would be sampled into the MPC.
5) Then once the sample is in the MPC, turn the track from a MIDI track to a DRUM track and just erase the MIDI data for the pattern and just trigger the actual audio sample, as if it were any other sample on the MPC?
This way I could make sure the notes are playing proper using the MPC grid edit, then instead of having my samples in 2 different places like the thread I linked above talks about, I could eventually have them all on the MPC, by having the MPC trigger the external synths and just record the external synth as audio while the MPC is playing the MIDI sequence back, once I've corrected any wrong notes using grid edit.
(PS I'm going off of just reading and researching, I don't have the cables and stuff to try this out just yet)
