Trouble with mac and MPC 1000 communicating

Hello all!
I just got an MPC 1000 so I am incredibly new to this. I am having a shit time getting started though because of this problem. Let me start first by saying I am using an MPC 1000, a macbbok pro using Yosemite as its OS, and my CF is a 4 GB Sandisk....
OK the problem is: If I format my CF in the MPC the computer won't see it; either if I connect the computer to the MPC or if put the card in the card reader. If I put the card in the card reader I can find the disk via disk utility but can't mount it unless I reformat the card.... so I am stuck not being able to transfer files from the computer to the MPC....I've searched but the only post I found that seems to be about this same problem says to turn both the computer and the MPC off then power up the MPC first plug it in to the computer and put it in LOAD>USB mode then turn on the computer. I've done this a dozen times and left them sit for hours...to no avail.
Please Help!

I have formated in the Mac (using the FAT format). Tried back and forth a number of times with 3 different cards and keep running into the same problem. I can format the cards in the MPC and it works fine but If I hook up the Mac, it can't see it. If I format the card in the Mac it works fine but when I put it in the MPC it can't see it. This makes me think that there is some kind of language barrier between the two. Since from my understanding formatting "cleans up" and creates a new filing system could it be the MPC and the Mac just don't understand each others systems? If that is the case then perhaps there is a "work around" wherein I could format the card on the Mac and then also mimic the MPCs system...I'm not a tech savvy person...this is just me faking by logic and hoping i do not have to buy yet another card....because the first three didn't work.

oh! And I've tried two different cables...neither work with the mpc but work fine with other devices (printer, scanner). Also if it was the cable It then there would only be a problem when the two were connected and It should read when I remove it from one device and connect it to the other. Could it be a problem with the MPC itself? gershdernit I hope not.

I have formatted it in the MPC first. When I connect it to the Mac nothing happens. The mac doesn't see it. If I connect it and turn the MPC on first then power up the Mac (which it seems has been successful for others)...nothing happens. The Mac still does not see it.

I've never had any problems with Macs reading my MPC disks (and vice versa). TBH I don't think I've ever formatted my current main CF card, I used it straight out of the box (4GB SANDISK). I Have you tried some different USB cables? Are you plugging directly into your computer (rather than a hub)?

I think you have to go to the load/disk screen in the MPC1000 and press one of the function buttons to tell it to connect vai the USB. The MPC is basically acting as a CF card reader and the Mac should detect it that way.

03. In the LOAD page, or the SAVE page, press the [F4] (USB) key.
This brings up the USB page, which you use to connect the MPC1000 to the PC. That is all for the MPC1000.
04. Connect the MPC1000’s USB slave jack to your computer’s USB host jack via USB
cable.
05. Removal media will be displayed on the desktop.
To save the data in the computer, select the data and drag and drop it from the removable disk to the hard
disk. To load the data from the computer, select the data and drag and drop it from the hard disk to the
removal media.
06. After you finish the data transfer, select the removable media and drag and drop to the
trash can.
When you drag the removal media to the Dock’s recycle bin under Mac OS 10.x, the icon will change to the
eject icon.
07. Remove the USB cable from the USB jacks of the MPC1000 and the computer.

@ Walmartian.... yes I am aware of the USB connection screen and have been using it. @ MPC-Tutor... I don't have a CF reader in the computer so I have to use a hub. I also only have the one USB cable...but as I said, if the cable was the problem then I would think that if I formatted the card in the MPC and the computer wouldn't read it when I connected the MPC to the computer it WOULD read when I plug the card directly into the computer. Also it is the same cord I use for my scanner and my printer and there are no problems with either of those...I think I might just have to bite the bullet and buy yet another card... and HOPEFULLY I've just gotten a few shitty cards.... :/
