MPC tracking into Logic Pro X

Hi

i am tracking my MPC into logic. I've created a sequence in the MPC and although i've split the different drum elements into different tracks in the MPC, my sequence has all been recorded on one track....

in other words, in order to track the MPC tracks into separate tracks in logic do i have to record each drum part on its own and on a separate track?

i hope that makes sense

Well, that sentence contradicts itself :) Is the sequence separated into unique tracks (multitrack) or just one track?

Anyway, to track into a DAW the easiest way is to place each unique instrument on its own unique track, so kick track, snare track, hi hat track, bass track etc. If you haven't done that you can copy out events to other tracks and split a single multi-instrument track that way.

Alternatively you can of course split things at the program level and send specific sounds through specific individual outs. Or pad mute to isolate specific tracks through the main outs. There's many ways to do this, but generally I prefer to split the sequence into multiple unique tracks, it's more tidy and efficient.

I do it this way:
send different samples to different output like Kick out to 1, snare out to 2 , hats/perc 3, bass 4, sample 5-6
from each output of the mpc is going out a cable which goes into my soundcard inputs.

Then on logic I have 5 different audio track, and i just set the inputs for each different track.
Now, when i record, each of the output is recorded in logic separately.

What I think op means is, mpc drums are on separate tracks, cool.
When tracked out into Logic there is only 1 track that everything is recorded too.

Meaning, mpc outputs aren't separated, indy outs + main = 6 chnls. Draws the conclusion thal only 2 chnls are going into Logic, a multiple chanl audio interface/mixer is needed to break chnls to separate Logic tracks. 6 mpc tracks could be recorded at a time. Mpc tracks would need to be assigned to an output ya dig.

What audio interface/mixer are you using? For comparison...
I have mpc4k, I do exactly what you are wanting to do. I have 8 mpc outputs (8chnls) going into my multichannel audio interface, audio interface then travles firewire into pc daw, Reaper. I create 8 mono tracks in Reaper and assign each track to the same 8 outputs from my audio interface, bam, 8 outputs from mpc record in Reaper.

If I have more than 8 mpc tracks, I do it all over again (2nd recording pass) but I reassign diff samples to mpc 8outs and mute previous samples and use 9-16 tracks in Reaper.

You will need a capable multichannel audio interface
