MPC 1000 vs Electribe 2 (from a novel perspective)

TL;DR: Is the MPC 1000 more powerful than the Electribe 2, and is it capable of allowing real-time parameter control through MIDI externals? Is it more than a "beat-making" sampler?

Hi everyone,

I signed up to this forum to get some expert advice , and I'll try to make this as short as possible.

So, I've been wanting to get into sampling for a while, and I've done my research on the machines that I can afford (up to $600-700). So far, the machines that call my attention are the MPC 1000 and the Electribe 2, though if I find a good deal, I'd buy an ESX-1 instead.

I'm a composer, and I tend to experiment a lot with genres (IDM, ambient, house, jazz, hip-hop, etc.) Lately I made a soundtrack for a film, and I relied heavily on sampling with Ableton, but now I want to work away from a computer monitor. So in essence, I don't want a sampler strictly for beat making, or for making house tracks, but for both, and possibly to experiment and articulate other musical ideas.

In the meantime, I've bought a Volca Sample, and though it's really really fun, it's very frustrating if you actually want to make a proper track. However, I really like its gritty sound, and most importantly, I LOVE the "motion sequence" feature. So, with that being said, I wanted to ask you if an MPC 1000 would allow me to control and record parameters in real-time through a MIDI controller with knobs (start point, end point, filter, speed, pitch envelope, etc.). My understanding is that the MPC 1000 cannot do this things, at least not in real time, is it right? Can this machine go beyond the stereotype of "MPC if you wanna b making beats"?

In the end, my question boils down to 2 things: parameter control flexibility and sequencing flexibility. To me, both are equally important, and I would like to hear your opinions over this matter. THANKS!

PS: I'd buy both machines If I could (and a Roland SP-404 for looping/phrasing), but I'm on a budget . Also, I would have to buy and MPC overseas because in my country there's no second hand market for these things, and I'd probably have to wait until Xmas when a friend comes over from the US.
