MPC 1000 hard drive upgrade

Ok! So I'm pretty new to this, but I need a bit of help. I got a hard drive kit from MPC Stuff, and a 160gb hard drive, and I installed it.

It mostly worked, the MPC recognizes the drive and I was able to format it, but it's only showing that the hard drive has about 2000mb free, when it should be much more than that.

Does anybody know what I could do to free up the other ~158gb?

Don't you have to format it to FAT32 on a computer first?

Mpc will show up in your computer just like a digital camera would.

A big ole card reader, nothing more.
