copying a pad

i really hope this isn't an obvious question: is there a simple way of copying one pad to another (along with all the filter, pitch etc. info ?)

i had a look at the manual last night and couldn't find anything...mind you it was late and i was half mashed. i'd take a better look now but i'm at work.

not really. you can 16 level it w/ velocity, and have two pads next to each other (slightly quieter) that are the same...

its pretty damn easy to just select a new pad, and add the same sample from the memory, add the fx # to the mixer, and select the same effect. The effect should be have the same settings ready to go.

true...but i thought there might be a simpler way. i tend to do it alot and all the scrolling back and forth can be pretty time-consuming.

agree with sans soleil. copying a pad to another pad should be darn easy (like on the akai s20: select a pad, sel et copy in the menu, press erase and a new pad, voilà the pad is duplicated).
Wouldn't you love it to copy a pad like this? like: hit a pad, hit SHIFT and a new pad a the same time and the selected pad is copied to the new one? that would be greater than great.

When you have quite complex settings on a pad (two filters settings, mixer, switch layers etc) it can take a couple minutes just retreiving the information form the original pad to appply it to the new one.

re-sample it , then put it at the pad u want.

what is the point of this 'lazy' comment ?

pad/sample copy is a feature that many inexpensive samplers have, so, naturally, i was wondering if the mpc had it as well. when you've tweaked 8 or 10 parameters on a pad, it can take a good 5 minutes going back and forth copying everything...not to mention situations where you want to make multiple copies (which i often do). personally i'd rather be spending my half hour doing something more interesting.

i dont think it's a matter of laziness either.

if youre in the middle of putting down an idea, when any little stupid thing that comes along can distract you or make you lose it, it sucks to have to stop and do ANYTHING for 30-90 seconds.

copying of a pad would help out alot when your chopping shit up.....msinly because when you change something on one chop you gotta change it on all....lazy no smart yes

c'mon you guys, we _are_ getting a lot for this price range...



















really though, add this to the wishlist; the copy pad function would be super fun, and super useful... more or less neccesary for music like drum n bass....
