OK so i am in a small remote island in Central America currently.

Did a huge sampling binge before I left thinking that the 2KXL would transfer to my 1000 no problem... I'm finding out that the volume is way lower and the programs def do not transfer properly at all along with little tweaks on the sequencing and programming.

I'm not complaining, its a plain 1000 with the 3.16 OS but my main concern is if i upgrade to the paid version of JJOS (if i can out here) Id def do so... I have 1 with a XLCD that seems to be at least better at having the programs loaded correctly but the volume and stuff is that a normal issue?

So if somebody can hit me with the science on how to fix the problem... if possible, that would be great! I have a project that needs to be done by christmas soooo... kind of needing to get to work!

Also if i get the latest JJOS and decide to make this 1000 XLCD does the paid version switch over? or do i have to purchase a second password?

Im sure this has been answered but all i found were questions for transferring 1000 data to the 2000XL.

good looking out in advance.

can't help you with the jjos license transfer, but i'm sure that is thoroughly spelled out on his site (if not a bit confusing).

as for program transfers between the machines, i kind of just gave up on it (using jjos2xl). depending on the jjos version, it will lack things i got reliant on my 2kxl (namely velocity to tuning...i believe this exists in os3 but not 2xl...as i said, confusing). i found that sample placement didn't transfer very well either, but that could be because of a decades-old tradition i have gotten into with the 2kxl. it really just seemed like too big a deal so i just kind of started over with jjos.

bear in mind, i tend to push the 2kxl to the limit in almost every program / sequence, so i might be an edge case. if your programs are fairly simple with just sample placement and basic filter settings, you might be ok. for me, it didn't make sense to put the time in and recreate on the 1000. i'm sure you could do it with a little time and a lot of diligence, just go through your sequences and solo one note at a time, then try to rebuild that note in the program.

right right... Yea the JJOS is pretty spelled out for sure.

But the main thing is why is the volume different from the samples from the 2KXL?

has anybody else noticed this?

would the mpc editor fix this?

I can deal with the program tweaking no problem and i guess if i have to make it back on the 2KXL i will but it would be nice to freak up all of the samples i have so far and trim and chop and be able to bounce it back if its gonna be wonky on the 1000.

im a super rookie at anything past the 2KXL & the 60. so if you have the know how it would help greatly!

i mean if the main thing is the volume difference, turn the volume up.

maybe i'm oversimplifying it, but that hardly seems like a problem at all. i was way more concerned that my programs literally didn't sound anything like they did on the xl.

i dont think there is any 'fix' for that other than doing it manually, pad by pad on the ones that dont work. and also possibly transposing all the notes in the sequence, or i guess resetting midi notes in the program might do it too. still, yer gonna need a fine tooth comb...all way more complicated than adding volume globally in whatever way you choose.

haha no doubt... yea i guess ill just do it twice. at least it seems thats my only option at the moment!
