Can’t put more than one sample in pads

My problem is when I put a sample on pad one it works just fine and then When I’m ready to put another sample in pad 2 it won’t let me I’m just trying to put samples in my pads but I can only put one sample at a time only one so I’m hoping somebody can please help me with my probleme I have a akai mpc 1000
