Replacing CF reader (broken pin) - SD card?

I recently got a used MPC from a friend and it looks like one of the pins in the CF reader is missing. I don't have a soldering kit, so I was looking around on mpcstuff for a CF reader replacement and it seems pretty expensive. I found this guide on how to install an SD card in the HDD tray of the 1k (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpvVq3z ... dex=2&t=0s) and it seems like a better way to spend my money than buying a replacement CF reader just to use a 2GB CF card.

I'm basically wondering if I can use a microSD card as my primary storage on the MPC 1000. Can I still use the device, use JJOS, save samples, etc., without a working CF reader/card inserted?

Short answer yes.

To access the storage without taking the device apart every time you want to add files to the MPC though, you'll have to USB mount it.
