iRig midi doesnt work with mpc1000

first time i connected my irig to mpc for a compact combo ...no Rx/Tx data I tough this iRig was gone.
then i tested the irig on my pc interface and it is working fine.
im not a midi newbie and this never happened to me, looks like just mpc -irigmidi interfacing doesnt gripe, everything else works as it should
any idea ?
