Mpc start screen stuck

I just ordered a mpc 1000 on eBay, when I first powered it on it worked perfectly and took me to the main screen. I then removed the cover to replace the faulty jog wheel and now when I try to power on it just blinks on the opening screen that says “TAP TEMPO + power on —> FREE OS” just blinking on and off. Anyone has any idea why it’s doing this? I don’t have a CF card or RAM in it yet
