mpc 1000 & ableton sync

I ve done a quick search about syncing my 1000 midi with ableton. i ve tried it but it doesnt sync at all either mpc is master or slave. a friend told me that i can surely use an external clock, but i saw ppl's videos on the web where they sync them without ext clock, just with the interface. To me, this looks impossible. i use my FP10, win 7, ableton 10, mpc 1000.

Make sure the Midi clock type from Ableton is set to pattern and not song,
