not playing keyboard instrument

Hey all, I'm trying to record bass from my keyboard to my mpc. I'm getting sound, midi is working, and is recording. The problem is that when I play the track back it's grand piano not the bass that I used to record. Is there a setting I'm missing here? Thanks

are you trying to record AUDIO from your keyboard?

Or just trying to record the MIDI notes from your keyboard, so that you can send the midi notes back to the keyboard during a sequence to replay it?
