Update File wont load on MPC 1000

Hey guys, so I just bought a 1000 with 1.05 installed, and the cf card slot was broken. I installed the HDD mod with the sd card adapter, and i have a 128gb card in there but it showed up as only 2gb. I thought this was weird as I did every step right, figured it could be the os or something so I downloaded JJOS free , and when i go to load it, the os update just never loads or does anything. I loaded samples into the mpc and it works fine, but the update will not load at all. Has anyone encountered this? Very confused and I can't find a solid answer on this

I just got my MPC1000 and haven't begun to play with it yet, but I remember reading from the service manual that an OS update has to be done through the CF card slot. No idea if there is a way around that.

Damn, I did a quick search on the internet and it says you can update from the HDD, but that could ge false. I bought all the hdd equipment so I wouldnt have to deal with the CF card slot, but maybe theres no way around that

Did you figure it out? I think you can actually upgrade from the hard drive. I'm judging based on me updating my os from the memory card, but it looks like you should be able to select the different storage device and select the os file from there.

You currently have jjos free installed?

I have not figured it out yet, I am actually trying right now. Currently have the stock OS 1.05 and I cant even load the file at all. Im trying to load JJOS free, I thought maybe trying an older OS like 2.1 but still no luck. It just sits there when i click F6 (load) with nothing being done. When i try to boot up holding window it gives me the screen but says error and to insert a cf card (my slot broke). Thinking to just give up and take the L lol

Have you tried fixing the CF slot?

I tried to fix the one pin that bent and ended up breaking it, but I have no soldering experience so Im worried I wont be able to fix just the CF slot. Next best thing I seen is the whole panel with the headphone jack and CF , that requires no soldering I believe.
